Effective Ways to Child Proof Your Pool

It's always good to enjoy a nice afternoon watching your children have fun swimming in the backyard pool. Like any other parent, one of your greatest worries is probably figuring out a way to ascertain your child's safety even when you are not around them. With the right direction, you can child proof your pool and keep your kids from drowning. Therefore, if you have a pool in your backyard, don't hesitate to have a look at the following suggestions.

Pool Fencing

One of the best ways to keep a child from the pool is by setting up a barrier around it. You can have your fencing contractor help you with this. For a start, make sure that your fence is at least 4 metres high with no gaps exceeding 3 inches. In addition, you can fit the fence with an alarm system that you can integrate to your child's wrist band, which would alert you every time the child approached the pool.

There are many types of fences you can use. For example, if saving costs is your priority, you can install a wire mesh or net fence. However, if you want a beautiful panoramic view alongside protecting your child, a frameless glass fence would definitely suffice.

Install Pool Covers

Sometimes, a kid may get clever and learn to open the pool gate. That's why you need to go the extra mile of installing a pool cover; after all, it would also be a great complement to your pool fence. Despite that, always ensure that your cover is made in such a way that it does not accumulate water at the top because a small water puddle might still be enough to drown a child. A good solution here would be to use porous pool covers such as wire mesh.

There are many pool cover options you could consider. For instance, a great one would be using designer solar pool covers that would give you energy and still keep your child from drowning.

Above Ground Swimming Pool

Another good way of keeping your child from drowning is by installing an above ground swimming pool. The major advantage of this pool is that its walls act as its own fence.  However, you will still need your fence contractor to set up a gate around the ladders or any other entry route to the pool in order to keep your kids from accessing it.
